The traditional Pelion village of Portaria is just 14 km. away from Volos, and has a natural source of wealth and immense natural beauty. The village was developed during the 18th century, mainly in part to the villagers work in the manufactural industry. This hard work led to an impressive financial, cultural and literature growth.

Today Portaria is one of the pioneers of the Tourist and Cultural development of Pelion. Having preserved it's beauty and the traditional characteristics, it is a popular destination for holidays in Pelion. The Traditional House “Danae” provides a beautiful choice for accommodation for your travels in Pelion, and can accommodate 4 people. It is one of the oldest stone houses of Portaria. The "Danae" House was renovated by it's owners and operates providing A' Class tourist accommodation.

"Danae" is a very beautiful ground level house, measuring 70 sq.meters and has a large garden. It is situated very close to the main square ( aprox 200 m.) of Portaria.

The internal decoration is in perfect harmony with the element of the stone and the decorative art works, creating a romantic atmosphere, as well one of warmth and comfort.

The steep rocky endings of the mountain to the Aegean sea side, create both large and small beaches, and small hidden bays ( Horefto, Agios Ioannis, Papa Nero, Damouhari, etc ), while the slopes towards the Pagasitic Gulf, cover in olive groves, create sandy beaches with picturesque fishing villages ( Kala Nera, Afissos, Lefokastro, Horto etc.)
