One of the prettiest of these villages is the popular coastal resort of Platanias. Situated 60km from the city of Volos, Platanias is a very picturesque fishing village, with colourful boats and inspiring scenery.

Platanias is a busy hub during the summer season, with boats and ferries departing from the port heading to the neighbouring islands of the Sporades, as well as to Volos and Agios Konstantinos.
