VILLA MYKANDRA - Horto, Pelion, Greece
The Pelion peninsula, situated on the Eastern side of the mainland, is one of the most spectacular and verdant areas of Greece. Combining rich vegetated mountains with long sandy beaches and an extensive range of flora and fauna, many of which are exclusive to the region, the Pelion is an ideal destination whether you are looking to explore its natural beauty through its extensive network of ancient footpaths, or simply relax by its crystal clear waters.
Argalasti is the main village of South Pelion and is 40km from Volos. The architecture is heavily influenced by the Byzantine period with perhaps its most noteworthy architecture being the belfry of the church of St Apostles which is 45 metres tall and was made from marble by local workmen in 1914.
Fifteen minutes south of Argalasti, lying on the shores of the Pagasitic, is the resort of Milina with its shops and waterfront tavernas, whilst a twenty minute drive to the east brings you to Platanias, from where you can catch the boat for the short trip across to Skiathos.
Just 3 kilometres south of Argalasti you will find Villa Mykandra, set in an olive grove with spectacular views over the Pagasitic Gulf. Its central position means that you have easy access to all parts of the Pelion, whether that is the sheltered western beaches of the Pagasitic, the dramatic coastline of the Aegean to the east,
the ruggedness of Trikeri to the south, or the mountain villages of Mount Pelion to the north.
Villa Mykandra is one of two houses set in a peaceful acre of olive grove. The other house, Villa Mykandros, is our own home but during your stay you will enjoy complete privacy and exclusive use of the swimming pool.
Villa Mykandra was built in 2005 to the highest standards and is fully winterised with gas central heating throughout. There are two double bedrooms with king sized beds, two bathrooms, a fully fitted kitchen, washing machine and a living area with wood burner with an additional folding king sized sofa bed if required. Upstairs there is a covered veranda from which you can admire the stunning sunsets, whilst outside there is a large patio area for al fresco dining.
A short drive to the beaches either of the Pagasitic Gulf or the Aegean, Villa Mykandra is the perfect location from which to explore this amazing unspoilt part of Greece.
