In addition to the beautiful beaches, stunning landscapes and picturesque towns and villages, there are many places of interest and sights to see all around the Pelion peninsula.

The entire region of Magnesia is one with thousands of years of history woven into its fabric, and this is evident from the fascinating archaeological sites of Dimini, Sesklo and Fthiotide Thebes. Each of these sites are located a short distance from Volos, and provide a historic insight into life in this part of Greece over 2000 years ago.

There are a number of interesting museums you can visit including the Athanassakeion Archaeological Museum, which is located in the city of Volos. There are also some smaller museums scattered around the peninsula including the Museum of Art Folklore in Makrinitsa, and the Greek Museum of Zagora.

One of the most popular and unique attractions in Pelion is the famous Pelion Steam Train, known as Moutzouris-Smudgy, which journeyed along the mountains from Milies down to Lehonia. Today you can enjoy a ride on this lovely little train, as is operates during the summer months.
