KATOHORI - PELION ( PILIO ) - GREECE
At an altitude of 450m, Katohori is a small mountainous village 11km from Volos and 2km from Portaria. Here you can find traditional tavernas, with tasty food, local wine and tsipouro.
On the main road, there is the small taverna "Kaitis". If you can, you must try the traditional food and wine. A little further out of the village is a path, which if you follow, will end up in Portaria.
The journey along the path is lovely, with nature surrounding you. If you are not tired after this, you can continue the journey up to Hania.
On June 1st is the very appealing "Tsipouro" festival. Here you can see a show of how tsipouro is produced. Afterwards, the big party starts with traditional music and dance, and of course, free tsipouro.
