Neohori is a traditional mountain village surrounded by forest at an altitude of 480m and 35km from Volos.
In the picturesque cobble-stoned square you can enjoy your coffee or tsipouro and titbits whilst sitting under the plain trees.
A little further out of the village you can see the ruins of the ancient city Laiou. You should also try to visit the villages' church near the square, which is dedicated to Agios Dimitrios, and dates from 1760.
Here you can see some beautiful wooden sculptured icons and also icons painted by the artist Ioannis Pagonis.
The village is famous for its quarries of stones and Pelion paving stones, which is actually the main occupation of the villagers. For swimming you can go to the beach of Plaka, where you can also see the chapel of Panagias Plakas, "The Protector Of The Quarries".
